A small temple dedicated to the Chinese consort Yang Kuei-fei (Yokihi in Japanese) beautiful concubine of the last T’ang emperor Hsuan Tsung (713-756).The temple is popular with young Japanese women who come to pray for some of Yokihi’s fabled beauty.

It was rebuilt of Hiden-in that was a welfare facility of the Heian period. Bishamonten of Bishamondo is one of “Senzan Seven Lucky Gods”. You can enjoy a panoramic view of Kyoto city.

Every year my owner family goes to Hiden-in in the evening of the 16th of August, the day of Daimonji Okuribi (the Great Bonfire Event) .
They light fires again to send the souls of ancestor back. Meow!

Unryu-in

The main hall called Ryugaden has East Asian hip-and-gable roof. The rare type of Daikokuten is enshrined here. There is also a grave of Misa Yamamura, Queen of suspense.

The temple associated with Yoshio Ooishi who was the leader of Ako warriors. Ooishi established the tea room and nenjibutsu (a small statue of Buddha always kept close at hand) . It is said that the statue of Sampo-kojindozo in Kojindo is the oldest in Japan.

Imakumano Kannonji provides a tranquil oasis in the midst of the city of Kyoto. Stepping into the leafy grounds here, after crossing the red lacquer bridge, you immediately feel as if you could indeed be far away in the primeval forests of Kumano instead of the middle of a city. Sipping the waters of the ancient spring at the Five Wisdoms Well is said to improve your mental acuity, and the temple has documented many miracles for over a thousand years of curing headaches.

Tofukuji is a large Zen temple in south east Kyoto that is particularly famous for its spectacular autumn colors. The temple was founded in 1236 at the behest of the powerful Fujiwara clan. Its name is a combination of the names of two great temples in Nara that were also associated with the Fujiwara, Todaiji Temple and Kofukuji Temple.
